I've been a bit extra lazy and getting into the holiday spirit the last few days, so my razor hasn't seen much use since Wednesday (tomorrow is Monday). The wife mentioned today she likes the look and encouraged me to grow a beard. I haven't had a beard since I began wetshaving about 7 years ago, but I think I might give it a go! Of course... I'll still shave my neck and cheeks but this will also give me a chance to test out different beard products myself... There's only so much real estate on my mustache to do tests!
Although I'm only 30, I'm noticing a lot more gray than last time I wore a beard...

go for it! my wife likes my beard if I keep it short. each time I get my hair cut, I'll attach a #2 attachment on the trimmers and go over my beard.

I grow a holiday beard each year and have done for the last 6-7 years or so [started a No Shave November ritual when my Mom was going through chemo].

I typically enjoy it; change of pace and frankly nice to keep people on their toes shaking things up. This year though I had even more grey than last and it was really "itchy". Couldn't wait to get rid of it Smile I did turn it into a fund raising event at the company at which I work so it was pretty cool.

Nonetheless, good luck- if you have spousal support event better! My wife Hates, with a capital H, my beard as it rubs her skin raw!

If you want to then go for it! If you don't then don't, pretty simple.

Grey doesn't bother me @ 63 so for me that wouldn't a be a consideration. I'd expect to be grey at that age. But I suspect you mentioned it because it could be a deal breaker for you. Only you can judge how much it means for you. You could always use the grey chaser that I see advertised on the tube. (Is it "Only for Men" ?)

Smile She hates it but my other girl loves it [our female weimaraner].

She will sit next to me and actually rub her face against the beard- funniest thing.

Oh yeah, my wife likes my beard, I still get to shave the neck and cheeks so we are both happy...and as far as the gray....I have often wondered...what's up with that?? Not really a trace on my head, but the beard....

Funny, isn't it?

I keep my hair pretty short, enough so that it looks almost completely dark even though there is a lot of grey on the sides and some up top [I am 50].

The beard: this year was almost totally grey, particularly the sides. And coarse? Yikes. Even when it got longer it was like a Brillo pad.

I'm 43 and it started to show signs of "changing" once I hit 40.....

you have to oil the beard or it'll become incredibly itchy and the skin beneath the facial hair will start to flake up. at least that's been my experience!
