Super Max Blue Diamond Titanium

I ran across a good deal on the Super Max Blue Diamond Titanium blade on an online shaving store and took a chance on ordering 100. I had used a Super Max Platinum many years ago and recalled it fondly, but had never followed up on that brand again.

I got the SMBDT blades in a little over a week ago ( with a tuck of their cousin the Super Max Blue Diamond Platinums ). I'm happy to say the Titaniums are now sitting in my 'will buy again' category after using them over the past week or so. Unfortunately, I've found out since they are no longer in production, and in fact the ones I purchased were manufactured in 2011. Oh well, I made a followup purchase of 270 more so I'll have a stock of them for quite a while anyway

Has anyone else in here used those blades? I find them extremely smooth, and they seem to be sharper than average. Shave results are favorable in multiple razors I have tried them in so that is another plus. I even ran them through my Dollar Tree Assured TTO razor and that handle usually points out sub-par blades quickly.

** I tried the Platinum version as well and frankly I'd be hard pressed to differentiate between the 2 blades. I liked the Plats enough to order 100 of them as well.

I liked the SM. But I recall it only lasting for 3 full shaves until I got neck bit. So typical performance for me. But nothing to shout at. What did you like the best about it that allows you to keep it as one of your favs?

It is extremely smooth in all my razors. I value smoothness over almost anything else - as long as hair is removed efficiently. This blade is smooth <and> efficient. To me its a better Astra or Red IP. I don't think it's as sharp as the top end Gillettes, but it's in the playing field, and my facial hair doesn't require ultra sharpness.

I took my first Titanium to 5 easy shaves, and it probably had a few left in it but I swapped it out early to test the Platinum version. If I can get 5 shaves from a blade I'm happy.

I'm pretty sure the BDT is still in production. I have a two hundred available in my Etsy shop. You can also get them from Connaught.

I got mine from Connaught, and they have an mfg date of 2011 on them. The current Titaniums I see aren't the same packaging and don't say 'Blue Diamond'. They may very well be the same blade though. Super Max seems to have a thing about changing the names of their stuff on a regular basis.

I can check the manufacturer date when I get home, but these definitely say Blue Diamond on them:

I got a few things from India yesterday.
Including, these three blades. Of which (for me) the novelty is Diamond Edge.

I immediately put them to work today.

Here in detail.

Excellent result.
After almost ten hours, still pretty much BBS.
Although, to my taste, they’re too clingy.
So the three past canons left a slight discomfort.
Not immediately, and not worth mentioning. But as the day goes on I feel it.
Nothing a good consumable doesn’t keep under control.
In fact today even the soap is new and no pre / post treatment.
Just to see what’s new.

In summary, the best of the group: a better diamond.

Order of approval: Stainless < Platinum < Titanium < Blue Diamond

Yesterday too, a little too clingy for my taste.
Today I decided to mitigate this feature.
A light passage on cork.
That’s all it took.

I have not tried the Super Max Blue Diamond Titanium blades, but I did purchase a 100 of the Blue Diamond Platinum coated blades. While not my favorite blades, they are quite good.

I do not know how the Titanium blades differ from the Platinum blades. The only Titanium blades I have are Durablade Sharp Titanium. They are also quite good.
