Razor: Rockwell 6S (plate 5) w/ TiBam Bronze Handle
Brush: Trotter Handcrafts - “Bats in the Butterscotch” w/ 26mm boar knot
Soap: McDuff’s - Badlands
Aftershave: McDuff’s - Leatherbound Book
Blade: Perma-Sharp

The McDuff software is new to the Den today. This soap base is wild. It required a crazy amount of water to form a lather. Too little water just gives you a gooey, sticky mess. Similar to elmers glue. But once properly hydrated, its wonderful. Still gooey, but in a good way. Very slick, very protective, awesome post-shave. I also enjoy the scent. It's light, but I get a clean fruit note mostly. Kinda like apricot or grapefruit.

The splash was not the best scent to match-up with the soap, but it was new and I wanted to try it. The scent on this one is leathery, dusty, and has a sweet accord. Very similar in some ways to Chiseled Face "Sherlock" or maybe even Ghost Town Barber in a way. My Brother in Law (also a wetshaver) is visiting this weekend and he thought it smelled like a bowl of Halloween candy. Haha. It does come off pretty sweet for a leather scent.

Have a great Saturday guys.

Thanks! And yes, I ship to Canada.

I actually live about 20 mins from the Peace Arch Border Crossing (if you happen to be in the Vancouver area).
I’m in Alberta, although I do have a friend or two in the Wet coast Smile

Razor: Henson (medium) w/ TiBam Titanium Handle
Brush: Prometheus - Experimental Tortoise w/ 26mm Viking Gellybeard Knot
Soap: McDuff’s - Old Strathcona
Aftershave: McDuff’s - Alone in the Woods

Yesterday I used McDuff’s V3 soap base. Today, I tried the latest base V4.

V4 is softer and lathers up much quicker. V3 needs a ton of water, V4 does not. V3 has a very sticky lather, V4 is much more refined and they definitely have it dialed into perfection.

Scent is light and very complex. I get the lemon, basil, some faint, clean woodsy notes.

Enjoy your day guys. I’ve been out in the shop late last night and this morning. Cranked out 5 handles which I’ll try to properly photograph and share later in my “Hot off the Lathe” thread.

Razor: Wolfman WR2 (1.25 gap shimmed up to 1.55 gap)
Brush: Viking Ebonite w/25mm knot
Soap: Ethos DFS Collab. (sample).
Aftershave: T&S Sicily
Blade: Personna Super

It occurred to me that during all my "shimmed WR2" test shaves the other day, I didn't try a different blade. Doh! So last night I threw a new Personna Super in the mix. It's a smooth blade and a little less intense than the Feather that I was previously using with the shimmed shaves. The efficiency is there, but I still don't love the WR2 experience as I sincerely want to. Oh well. I'll just stick to the 1.25 gap and be "content".

The brush was a serious winner! The handle is small, but beautiful. The knot, also smaller was outstanding!

Have a great day guys.

In this hobby, one thing I have to keep working at is the being content! I can be content for a couple of weeks, then BAM! The Next Thing appears on my screen and I Must Have a go at it. Good attitude reminder, Paul, thanks for sharing it.  Happy2

Razor: Yates 921 (M-plate)
Brush: Chisel & Hound
Soap: McDuff’s - Birch & Root
Aftershave: McDuff’s - Old Sea Captain
Blade: Nacet

My buddy Eric was selling the Yates in the BST and I thought it would be a fun one to add to my Yates collection. The "bead-blast" finish is nice! Very rich and exotic (just like Eric). I wasn't sure I'd like this super long/skinny handle, but somehow it balances perfectly and works. Plus, it could double as a baseball bat or car jack. The brush is new to me as well and was highly enjoyable. Super dense, yet soft. Glad I snagged this one. I used the last of the Birch & Root sample Paul @Mr.Doug gave me. What a great scent! Thanks again Paul. And finished things off with McDuff's Old Sea Captain which has a light spice/musk/bay scent. It's very enjoyable. Love the post shave of all the McDuff stuff. Quickly becoming my favorite software provider.

Thanks for the kind words! Exotic only because of the "guyliner" I use on work days, for that pharmacy Goth look even in the white coat.

Birch & Root is great. FWIW Autumn cabin is even better IMO. Perhaps it's a bit late for Autumn, but I think it's a great cold weather scent anyway.

“Autumn Cabin” does sound inviting Mike! Currently, McDuff’s “Winter Cabin” is a huge hit at the Trotter house. Mrs Trot and Daughter Trot have awarded it the best scent in Papa Trots Den by a landslide margin. I had no choice but to purchase a backup of the splash. It’s that good.
