Razor: Timeless .68 OC
Brush: Trotter Handcrafts - "Sea Glass" w/ 28mm G5A Synthetic
Soap: Palmolive Cream
Aftershave: Williams Aqua Velva (Spanish)
Blade: Astra SP

Another late evening shave. Went old school with the Palmolive cream and finished it off with the Spanish Aqua Velva. I enjoyed this combo a lot.

The G5A Knot is a fun time (thanks again Eric). It sports a low loft and is quite scrubby with tons of backbone. Plus, it just looks cool.

Knocked out 1 handle last night on the lathe that I'm very happy with (see the Hot off the Lathe thread for pics).

Happy Friday!

Razor: Wolfman WR2 (1.25)
Brush: Trotter Handcrafts - "Cellar Door"
Soap: A&E Cannabliss Santal
Aftershave: Fine - Green Vetiver
Blade: Feather

Reached for the Wolfman today in hopes it would inspire me to place a new Wolfman order. My name recently came up on "the list" and I'm told I'll be locked into the old pricing model (if I place an order soon-ish). That said, I'm not sure what I would order from them just yet. Off the cuff, I suppose I'm leaning towards a WR2 OC with a large gap (1.45?). Might be a $400 cheese grater on my face, but hey sometimes you gotta take chances, right?

The soap today is Cannabliss Santal. A killer performer that has an polarizing and complex scent. I get green notes with herbs, sandalwood and a hint of sweetness. I need to pickup the matching splash soon, but until then, Fine Green Vetiver compliments it well.

Overall the shave was excellent this morning. The Feather blade is a good match-up with the Wolfman and I'm rocking a DFS under this mask at the office today!

Happy Friday Friends. Enjoy your day and be safe out there.

Razor: Yari - Raster V3
Brush: Trotter Handcrafts - El Creador Oscuro w/ 26mm Hand-tied Knot
Soap: ?? Mystery sample from Rob!
Aftershave: Floid Black
Blade: Proline P30

Some new things landed that I was excited to try out this morning.

First, Rob ExtraProtein was kind enough to send me some Astra blades that I’ve never tried before… never even seen before until I saw a post of his! Those on deck for tomorrow’s shave, but he also threw in a little mystery soap sample! I’m not sure what it is but he promised to tell me after I try it and review it. So here ya go:

Scent is amazing. I get a clean, modern sandalwood with perhaps a touch of jasmine or lily… and I want to say I’m picking up on some vanilla as well. I could be a million miles off, but hey, that’s what I get off the sample and while lathering!

This is a cream. Not a crop. At first I thought it might be Ethos Dragon’s beard… maybe it is, but this texture isn’t like the Ethos Samples I’ve previously used. It’s softer.

Being a cream, it lathered up quick and effortlessly. Minimal cushion, low structure, but still slick and protective. Held together pretty well, but not the gooey lather you get from A&E, WK, etc.

Again scent is killer. I want a splash of whatever this is!

Now if I had to guess what soap this is… I would take a shot in the dark and say an early version of Ethos Dragons Beard, or maybe an old Art of Shaving before the formula changed. Hard for me to say!

Thanks again Rob for sharing whatever this is. I would likely buy it just on the killer scent alone!

Now, let’s talk about this razor. This is a super slim/sleek AC SE that I tacked on to a recent order for no other reason than it was dirt cheap ($15) and I have wanted to try some new SE razors.

This head is clearly an imported razor head that attempts to copy the Vector. It’s not machined, but rather pot-metal and tolerances are not tight. First pass was not that great and felt tuggy with a very narrow cutting angle. The following 3 passes felt better.

I got a semi-close shave from this thing, but it wasn’t really a joy to use. I do like the slim size. Next time I’ll try a different blade to see if it makes a difference. Later when I have more time I’ll post detailed pics of the razor head.

And lastly I tried a new “hand-tied” 26mm Badger knot. I’ve been in talks with a “company” and I’m strongly considering ordering a large batch of super-high quality knots directly from them. This will be a sizable investment, but seems like the direction I should go with Trotter Handcrafts at some point.
