My little corner of the PNW had a massive wind storm yesterday. Got blasted for about 10 hours straight. Lost one huge tree limb off the Maple tree so I spent the morning chainsawing it up and taking it all to the dump.

Sunny and beautiful here today! Will take a break from turning handles and go play with the kids today. They’ll only be little and think I’m cool for so long Wink

Enjoy your Saturday Gentlemen.

Razor: Merkur Progress
Brush: Trotter Handcrafts - “Cellar Door” w/ 24mm SHD Knot
Soap: Sir Henry - Casino Royale (sample)
Aftershave: Furbo Blu
Blade: Nacet

Wonderful shave today with some fun items I picked up from Paul @mr.doug

I owned a Progress about 5 years ago and sold it… for some unknown reason. Happy to have one back in the den. I dialed it up to “4” and it was a very comfortable, close shave. I forgot how big and heavy this razor is. I dig it.

Paul was kind enough to throw in a bunch of Bic Chrome blades and a soap sample labeled “CR 21”. My sniffer interprets this as a very strong cologne scent and it instantly reminded me of Brut! Paul told me this sample was a Sir Henry soap and thinks it’s the “Casio Royale” scent.

I’ve never used a Sir Henry soap, but have seen Dominic dominicr here on DFS. I was honestly very impressed with this soap base in addition to the scent. It lathered up instantly and held together through all 4 passes. Tons of cushion and slickness. This soap is a serious winner and hangs with the best top-shelf soaps out there. I’m gonna need a tub of something Sir Henry in the very near future Smile

Thanks again Paul for sharing and outstanding work Dominic!

Razor: Timeless .95 w/ Dimple Handle
Brush: Viking w/ 26mm Odin's Beard Knot
Soap: Zingari Man - The Watchman
Aftershave: La Toja
Blade: Permasharp

Yesterday was another longgg day that started at 5 AM. Brisk 30 min motorcycle ride out to the Refinery for a 9 hour shift. Made it home just in time to take my Daughter to piano lessons. Back home for Tacos and Monday night football... then out to the shop to pour more handle blanks. Decided to end the day with a shower and shave... then fell asleep watching a classic film called "Dumb & Dumber".

On the shave front, The Watchman soap is new.... oh, and also the and Timeless Dimple Handle (thanks jesseix ).

I used Zingari Man soap a couple years back and wanted to revisit it. My concern with it last time was how long the puck lasted. I remember my first puck disappeared at a concerning rate. The Watchman consistency seems the same and while its a good soap, I don't think this one will last long either. The lather was "very good" and in the ballpark of B&M. The post shave is also impressive. I'm pretty "meh" on the scent which is somewhat Marine/Aquatic/Airy, but if I'm being honest, I just kept detecting a strange synthetic/medicine/berry aroma... much like children's cough syrup.

Anyways, Happy Tuesday.

Razor: Rockwell 6S (plate 5) w/ TiBam Bronze Handle
Brush: Elite w/ 28mm White Manchurian
Soap: Talbot - Island in the Sun (sample)
Aftershave: Maol - Island in the Sun (sample)
Blade: Perma-sharp

My friend jessie jesseix was kind enough to send me a handful of some premium soap and aftershave samples! I was very excited to try the Talbot. Scent off the sample was minty, bright, citrus, tropical. When I lathered it the Patchouli really came out in force. The lather was elite-level all the way. Great slickness and post-shave was also killer. I really enjoyed this one... oh, and the aftershave was epic too!

However, Mrs. Trotter was not a fan of the "Patchouli bomb" (her words) and could somehow smell it all the way downstairs and across the house. hahaha. I promised her this would not be used again in her presence... but it will be used every chance I get! Hopefully she goes to visit her sister in Seattle this weekend Wink

Also busted out the ol' Rockwell for this shave. Man, I love this razor. Sure, its ugly and bulky, but gives me a perfect shave every time!!

Thanks again Jessie! Appreciate it and looking forward to trying the other samples this week!

Holy shmoly, this stuff is loaded for bear. The good people at Turtleship have found out some excellent patchouli, and they’re not shy about sharing it. It comes on strong, and the vetiver and juniper that follow certainly don’t soften the blow. After only one shave, I’m ready to elevate this soap into the pantheon of majestic reekers. What about the shave? Sublime. Just sublime. This puck is packed with all the fats that let my razor dance lilting pirouettes across my boney face. Finished off with Santa Maria Novella Patchouli cologne. I reek to high heaven. My wife won’t come close. But even though I’ll be sleeping alone tonight, I’ll be snoring with a smile on my face.
