Razor: Wolfman WR1 (.80 gap)
Brush: Elite 3-band 28mm
Soap: Moon - Union
Aftershave: Razorock - Evil Eye Lime
Blade: Kai

A very enjoyable shave on this rainy morning in the PNW. The Kai and Wolfman combo is a great one for me.

I don't own many 3-band brushes, as I typically find them too floppy, but I like this Elite. It has some decent backbone and is super soft.

Moon Soaps is one of my favorite new soap offerings. I'm a big fan of the scent and hint of menthol. Just a solid soap base and pleasure to use.

Wrapped the shave up with a big splash of Evil Eye. Not sure how Razorock makes such a killer splash so cheap, but they do. Take a look at the ingredients and try some if you haven't. Highly recommended.

Lastly, I started this turning late yesterday evening and finished it up this morning. This piece of Maple had some really nice figuring and depth. I hand polished it with wax polish (thanks Eric for the tip on this stuff... its amazing). Not only did I make the base a bit bigger than normal, but I did a slight concave bevel. I think I like it...

Beautiful work Paul. The colors of that Maple really jump out. Very impressive piece.

If I may, let me ask... The Union soap has a description of 'sharp' as well as 'pungent' from the manufacturer. I'm guessing it's a strong, musky smell?

Been watching this soapmaker and I almost jumped on their amaretto, but I ended up grabbing Stirling's. So, I've been considering their other scents. Just curious your take on this description.

Thanks!

Hey Paul. I would not describe it that way at all! I think its a super nice modern Barbershop scent with notes of oakmoss, basil, patchouli, light powder. Very enjoyable for me in regards to scent, performance and post-shave. I'm happy to send you out a sample if you'd like.

I don't usually like mentholated soaps, but I like Moon Union well enough.  To me, Union is sharp on the puck, but pleasant.  Once lathered, I find both the scent and cooling subtle, and I like them well enough.  The performance is A-1 top notch, as good as it gets.  I have three Moon soaps, Union, Sorrento, and Old School.  All three are total winners, and as a matter of fact, it was Paul's post of a Union shave sometime back that tipped me over the edge to pull the trigger on Moon.  Thanks Paul (Stubble Daddy).  And Paul (mrdoug), I've seen nothing but love for the Amaretto, so if you still have doubts about Union, you might try the Amaretto instead.

PS  I shaved with Union today, just to refresh my memory.

Thanks Mike.

Nah, I'm not particularly interested in the Amaretto now. The Stirling worked out very well to scratch that itch. It's sweet enough, and plenty more powerful than Cella. Also got a samples puck for only a few bucks... So I'd I only use it once I'm a blue moon, it's still a deal.

I'm going to try the Union. Hopefully the scent is to my liking. I liked Mike's Natural Barbershop, and that's a classic barbershop many are similar to in one way or another (I think).

The Sorrento is also intriguing, but with a lot of citrus scents I worry about things like bergamot and neroli pushing it into something cologne like (I'm picturing AdP or such).

Thanks for the info.
