ML found a recipe that looked good enough to try.
She mixed up an enriched dough with sugar, milk and an egg added.
We let it rise. Then it was divided to 4 equal pieces. Each wa rolled into a thin, 12 inch round.
Three dough layers were alternated with strawberry jam and the whole thing was topped with the last piece of dough.
Lines were cut from the center outward until there were 16 'arms'. Two of these were twisted and then pinched together resulting in 8 'arms'.
This is the bread after rising.
It was baked, then brushed with warm butter and topped with confectioners sugar.
It turned out beautiful. It was tasty too. Sweet but not cake nor doughnut sweet. Excellent with tea.
ML did a fine job.
