I think its really something special. I'm a fan of backbone. I've had a 24mm premium Grade A silvertip, which was my softest and biggest, until I got word of the Plisson. It's probably worthy to mention, though, just because my silvertip was my softest, it wasn't my favorite, or go to. I suppose its because I liked harder soaps and had used best and black badger brushes and seen how they performed on the harder soaps. Also, I'm somewhat of a nuts and bolts, how its made guy. So, I got to really searching out how to get the backbone I liked whilst not giving up any more than I had to on the softness. Eventually, I found the 3 band super premium finest knot (when I got it, it was referred to as super 2 band finest). That knot was as soft as a silvertip on the tips, but had the backbone I liked. .........now back to the synthetics. My Plisson was softer than my silver-tip, but suffered equally with the silver tip floppiness. It's not a big deal really as they are still super awesome just because of the softness alone. However, it is possible to have the softness with the backbone. Enter the Kong. The Kong has that softer than silvertip feel, but also doesn't go floppy on you. This reminds me of my previous favorite because it excels as much as the plisson in softness, but has the backbone I favor. It doesn't give any on softness though. I'm assuming this is because its a big brush with more hair. Then, I ask myself, does the size inhibit the experience and I'd have to say no. It really doesn't. 26mm Kong doesn't feel to big at all. It's probably the softest brush available, and beats out the other brushes with similar knots because of its backbone density presence. It's a true gem of physics.
