Thanks for posting that! It looks like Stirling is going to be one of the artisan soapmakers with staying power. That is a very good thing IMHO. I wish Stirling an excellent and prosperous future!

Yeah Rod has stated that he wanted to try and get bigger or go home. I have some of their shave soaps, but I am a frequent bath soap/shampoo bar buyer so they get more business from me in that way.

I received the same email with the video yesterday as well and its great to see Rod and Mandy expanding and getting the much needed space they deserve to continue supplying us with the excellent products they have been known to make so successfully. I have been an exclusive Stirling user for over 2 years now, (shave, bath, shampoo bars, aftershave, and balms), and sure I will remain so for years to come. There prices and quality of product are one of the best in the business. Its good to see them thrive in this business market when you see Artisans come and go so quickly today and sometimes I feel they don't get the attention they really deserve. I wish them success in future ventures and will continue to stand by them in they're journey...

I'm going to have to load up the dogs and my new lady friend and drive down to see Rod and his new digs. To finance my trip I will have to have a sale of (non-stirling) goods that might get me one tank of gas down the road Smile
I have been a user of products from Rod from about his first release. He is definitely not a perfumer using soap to finance his perfume passion. He is a soaper. And he is in this for the long haul.
Yea, he is in business to make money, as most of us sell our labor to put food on the table, I see this as an investment into the wet shave community that isn't going away any time soon.

I struggle to think of another soaper that has opened the doors to a brick and mortar store to the general public that houses all facets of manufacturing, sales and shipping in one location. (maybe Sudsy Soapery?)

So I will repay Rod with my wallet. I encourage other enthusiasts to do the same.

I see being in business to make money as a good thing. It means the owners have incentive to make the business a long-lasting success, in contrast to hobbyists who might suddenly decide to stop selling soaps. My take is that Stirling offers a really good product at a reasonable price, with great customer service. I can place an order, and for under $30 I have shaving soap for the next year if not longer. That sure works for me.

The Soap Opera, which has been in business since 1972. It was sold three years ago, and the new owners seem to be selling mostly third-party products now. Perhaps they had long done so in the store? The Soap Opera still make their shaving soaps, including the excellent Himalaya Shaving Soap. For some strange reason, they now make it hard to find in their online store.

The Napa Soap Company has been in business since at least the early 2000s, and also has a brick-and-mortar store. They still sell mostly their own products.

Having a brick-and-mortar location is a big deal. A retail location exposes many people to the notion of traditional shaving, most of whom would not otherwise know such an option exists. Many of these individuals don't realize that old school wetshaving is a thing, and have never heard of wetshaving forums. A great way to reach an entirely new audience!
