Stirling Soap 316 Stainless Steel Razor

Thats good that things have worked out so far.  

This begs the question, how many other products are out there marked "Made in USA" when they have been made in China or elsewhere?  For a start you should always deal with reputable vendors but how can you be sure and the vendors can get duped as well.  Counterfeit consumer goods is a multi-billion dollar annual problem.  I watched a series on Netflix called Rotten about various food and drug related scams.  Eye opening.  The episode on garlic was really interesting.  You think you're buying California garlic grown in Gilroy?  Odds are you're not, no matter what the label might say.  Over 90% of the world's garlic comes from China and virtually all of the peeled garlic sold in the US comes from China.  Peeled by prison inmates, with their teeth.  I'll never buy pre-peeled garlic again.  You'd think that the US regulators would crack down on it.  Think again.  Money talks and big money shouts loudest.

No problem here waiting for Rod especially given his class and integrity. Can't blame the Chinese as that's all they do - manufacture at the cheapest cost when they aren't stealing intellectual ideas. But that machine shop showed capitalistic greed to the point that no one should ever trust them of give them future business. I hope they don't contract with our Aerospace or Defense industries as who knows what short cuts these cheaters would take.

I wonder how Rod found out. I can only think of the shop having told him cause if it doesn't say 'made in China' on the razor how would you really know.

Certainly you are presuming that the shop that was supposed to be making them is also in Arkansas, right? I certainly wouldn't expect Rod to have to travel to an out of state shop to check on progress!!

The razors that he sells on his web site says the stainless steel handles are made in Texarkana Ark.
And yes I would expect him to travel to inspect such a large investment, if the razors were not made in Ark.

If the machine shop was within a days drive of his own shop, absolutely I would be on site a couple of times and on the surface seems terribly detached not to. Those razors have a street value of approximately $60k (200x300)...and they have the Stirling name on them.

I'm not here to pig pile on Rod, but, cutting checks in good faith to an unknown machine shop in a land far, far away is not wise...on a lot of levels. This is the kinda stuff that can happen.

I'm not trying to argue but not all of the responsibility lies with machine shop, imo. Of course, I've not followed the saga closely and dont know all of the details.

There are quality machine shops scattered all over this land. Surely there was one close enough to conduct periodic quality control checks of your own. Maybe I'm wrong tho.

That is terrible...hope this guy bounces back....I would be gutted..
