I have been fortunate enough to be able to trial the prototype Stirling razor.
AJSharp gave an excellent description of the razor and its makeup. I have 4 shaves in and used a Gillette platinum in the standard and hyper efficient plate then went to a Feather in those two plates. I must say if you do not like razors with some blade feel this is not for you.
The shave with either plate is very smooth, and I found the hyper efficient plate more to my liking. For me the standard plate starts where ATT H plate and Timeless .95 end. For all 4 shaves I did a 2 pass WTG & XTG shave and got BBS results, the Standard plate lasting 10-12 hours and the efficient plate in the 16 hour range. The only razors that have given me the duration of the efficient plate is an Ikon Tech, Muhle R41 and a 1.35 Wolfman WR2. Only the Wolfie matched the smoothness of the Stirling.
If you are a fan of high efficiency razors and do not mind a little blade feel this would be a razor worth considering especially considering Stirling’s history of well made economic pricing products.
I have no affiliation with Stirling and am receiving nothing for this review other than the chance to try it. Rod made it very clear I could post exactly what my experience was Good or Bad.
