Stirling 22mm vs 26mm shave brushes

The 26mm will make something of a mess and you will "waste" soap. But I love using big brushes. They are a guilty pleasure for me but then what else is the shaving hobby thing? 24mm really makes sense to me but I have a 30mm on its way. What can I say? I like big brush and I can not lie.

I have the 26mm and have no interest in the 22 after owning a Plisson 22 and selling it off due to size. However, 24mm is my preferred brush size for synthetics but it wasn't out when I got the Kong. As for making a mess, I had the same problem the first several times using it, but then I learned to go easy and slow with it on my face lather and it has been an amazing brush ever since. I have been rotating my Thater 26mm and Stirling Kong every other shave for the last few weeks. I have other synthetics that I like but the Kong has been taking priority over them all.

I think you miss my point about the mess. I don't try to keep it neater. For me, the mess is part of the silliness of using a huge brush. I can make no practical claim for using a brush any larger than 24mm. I just simply love it including the mess which often includes getting it onto my glasses.

Lol, well nothing wrong with that. I experienced it spraying lather all over my mirrors and myself which I didn't care for, so I slowed down my lathering motions and it has been a joy to use. I don't care for the mess and my wife doesn't either. However, the 22mm Plisson would fling suds all over the place too when I used soaps that explode in lather like Catie's. As for brush size, it's all personal preference and I like to mix it up with 24mm to 30mm.

i own both and hardly ever use the 22mm. i do use the 26mm often though.

I have the 26mm Stirling and I find it too big. Not that it's unwieldy, it just uses way more soap than I need to shave with. I'm thinking the 22mm might be perfect. I have a 24mm Shave Revolution Synthetic that's nice as well. I think they all have the Plisson fibers. Incredible performing brushes.

for my own personal tastes, the 24mm knot seems to be my preferred size.

one thing I almost always forget about when using my synthetics is that I should start them our fairly dry because they can sure sling some water around if the brush is too wet!

I ended up or ding the 22mm because the scratched logo 26 went out of stock.
Perhaps I'll pick up the 26 in April.

+1 Andrew. I merely dip the tip of the synthetic knot or dip it entirely, then squeeze it hard to get all the water out that I'm capable of. That's plenty to pick up enough of a load to develop the lather.

Where did you get this mug? I want one!

Hey Glenn Miller I received it as a stocking stuffer last year and my wife said she picked it up from Amazon. Actually a decent mug too.

I also like big mugs and I cannot lie!
