Nick, When SMF sadly lost steam huntsinger started TSN and invited me to join. I was member # 24 the same day Ben 74 joined. I was trying to have my SIMPSONS GROSVENOR LE
reknotted after it shedded out- a failure rate of @ 25percent from research and receiving no less than five empty handles from disgusted owners. I sent @ five minimum polite emails asking only for a reknot AT MY EXPENSE. I received no reply. I sent three, registered letters by post with no reply. Meanwhile, I am supporting the website and BG shaving to the point of being accused of shilling. Phil was a friend, talked frequently on the phone, generous with items, sharing the ups and downs of a B&M store. periodically, people would sing paeons to Simpsons; and yes, they are a classic brush of great standing. I would bring up the shedding issue as did a few others with horror stories. It eventually erupted in a full out online confrontation with Mark WHO NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED THE SHEDDING ISSUE OF THE LE BRUSHES. Meanwhile, BEN 74, fellow australian mate of Mark and owner of 40 Simpsons is sending PMs telling me to STFU and suggesting I post elsewhere. Eventually, I receive a call from Phil and in so many non words asked to let the issue lie. I know when I am being told to stop and figured I had made my point, if not received satisfaction for a couple dozen customers.
But then endless 'SIMPSONS APPRECIATION' threads began appearing about $450 brushes delivered with cracked handles and how great Mark was in resolving the problem. They all opened with ' I know people ( point point) have had issues in the past. I only want positive comments' and there must be at least 4 of these marathon victory parades replete with a laurel crown and rose petals scattered at mark's olive oil annoited feet.
I got mad, finally posted I HAD INTENDED to let the past lousy customer service issue alone, but if they were going to thank anyone to thank me for making a stink.
At this time that other thing called life beyond shaving intruded. My GF Lily collapsed with a blood clot to the brain and passed away after surgery while I was holding her hand asking her to marry me. I had to walk 2 hours home after public transport closed and the police stopped me 3 times. I crawled into bed and my beloved 20 y/o cat Pyewacket curled
up to comfort me. He's purring and chewing my fingers, let out a deep meow and died. I had to bribe her mother $500 to make me executor and give Lily a proper funeral instead of laying unclaimed for 3 days.
I finally logged online to escape reality and my posts re SIMPSONS had been purged. Phil sent a PM 'I think you're beating a dead horse with Simpsons and need to stop'. He sent copies to EENGLER and BEN 74 (his new forum administrators.) Ben sent a return PM to all three of us 'WELL DONE PHIL!' like some OZ headboy kissing up to the headmaster for flogging a new kid. Ben also sent ( just to me) another PM telling me I should quit the forum. I have nothing to contribute, have no social life or people who care about me and am a loser troll and probably homosexual.
I logged off of TSN and resolved never to return. But several good friends kept in touch and I decided to return @ six weeks later, if only to contact other good friends and you know how incredibly generous people can be in shaving. None of these people included PHIL.
'Kris Kringle' posted his annual PIF and you may have seen the rather arcane christian dissertation by a third party. I couldn't figure it out and I can get pretty arcane. kringle objected, asked people to keep religion out and for the moderators to feel free to move it. I had just posted my entry; quoting Waldon's Pond 'whatever possessed me to be so good' famous passage as part of my entry. I get another PM from BEN 74 and my post is 'political'. He had also removed it and the other post on christianity with a photo of THE GRINCH announcing 'christmas or not politics and religion are taboo'. I posted 'taboo' is a polynesian religious concept itself and therefore innappropriate. He fired back 'some people have a habit of deliberately derailing threads'. Meanwhile PHIL is logged on but silent. I pmed Phil " you're australian lapdog has pushed me for the last time. I am pushing back. You owe me a phone call" I went public and said 'Moderators who use their power for private vendettas against members can go F themselves. I logged off, went to bed and was obviously banned.
That, is what happened, or more accurately didn't. Simpsons, like our US banks is 'to big to fail' or critique, some australian BOHAN ( old irish insult) with 40 Simpsons can make deep insult to people he knows nothing about and I GIVE BULLGOOSE SHAVING a year. Phil hasn't been running these incessant discount specials out of some altruistic ethos.
I am sorry to abuse this forum with all this ugly dirt. I have shared things I intended to forget, or try to. The Internet breeds some pretty odd boldness and behaviour. I prefer a phrase from an old B. TRAVERN novel THE TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE ' This is the real world muchacho, and you are in it."

I know this forum doesn't care for people talking about The Shave Crook, but I hope your post can stay. I would love people to know what is going on over there. Its an iron-fisted dictatorship period. One does the bidding of Bullgoose, promotes the vendors that sponsor it, hates on those that don't (Italian Barber, Barrister and Mann, PAA) or else they are hammered, their posts deleted and they are banned. The forum has a clear agenda about it, to which moderators (and former moderators that step down from power so they can be forum enforcers) all participate in and silence anyone that has an opinion different than the mob. Its a total freaking disaster. I have posted on forums since the late 90s and I've never seen a forum more mismanaged, and with more of a forum theme that HAS to be followed, or speech is silenced.
Chris I'm very glad that you've seen the light on all of this and I hope you aren't offended from what I said about the forum or how it operates but I really wish everyone that has reached out to me since I've been banned, or has mentioned to me how much they hate how The Shave Crook operates, would leave the forum and not go back, along with taking all of their Bullgoose business to another vendor. The Shave Crook mob (not the good ones, they know who they are) accuses vendors constantly of shady business practices and of being shills, but they are WITHOUT A DOUBT the most CORRUPT forum and group of people that I've experienced in wet shaving.

Wow, Kav. My condolences for your painful losses. You were seriously the life of the party over there and I can't believe that you could be banned. But, then I remember the others that have been banned, many of which are my favorite posters to read, and so I guess i am not that surprised. But I am glad you came over to DFS. Very enlightening post.

I would urge the moderators to follow their own rules with regard to this thread. TSN, or any other shaving forum, for that matter, surely would never allow this type of discussion about another forum to go unchecked.

Gents, let's leave it. I am in no way suggesting you are right or wrong as many of us have had issues with other forums, both those mentioned here and those not. However, forum bashing is not going to change those sites for the better. Rather, those changes are only something that can happen internally within each site. Remember, our site may be going under the same lashing elsewhere. As DFS continues to grow we shall do our best to make it welcoming to all. That does not mean it will always be smooth sailing. It does mean we are going to do our best to make it a site of fun and laughter, all based around our mutual hobby of shaving. Therefore, let's focus on our site, Damn Fine Shave, and let other sites do what they do.
KAV, let me welcome you again to DFS. Enjoy.

I take issue with certain brands copying scents from famous fragrance houses. Any and all negative comments about vendors or soap makers revolve around this belief. Check my posts here, I've said the same thing in the past.
