Another one to look at are razorock razors. They made quite a few options in 316 stainless steel. You'd have to check the website to see the materials and details at

https://www.italianbarber.com/

Their superslant razors for example are all 316 stainless steel and come in various aggression levels from mild to wild. They even provide a scale system and some comparable modern DE razors to reference their scale against.

You have the all 316 stainless steel Yaqi Bohemia that is a modern take on the classic French Bohin razor.

They sell it for under $100 USD if you buy direct.

I try to avoid things produced in China and Russia the best I can.

I’m not perfect, but I definitely boycott MIC & MIR very thoroughly at the moment.

Fact

This is true. I think a good soap/cream, prep, and blade are key. The Pearl OC razor I just purchased for $18.95 all in gave me one of the best shaves I have had. I didn't know whether to be happy or mad. As long as you know the razor and how to use it (angle, pressure, blade, etc.) you're good.

Claus, this thread inspired me to purchase and try the Rocca. I'm not sure if you remember me, old friend.

I have tried mostly everything on the market and have been around for a while, ultimately settling on a Wolfman WR1 and WR2. I also have a Merkur somewhere that I use when I want a really mild shaver. I vastly prefer the WR1 because of the thinner head profile which makes shaving under the nose much more comfortable.

I bought the Rocca for around 80-90 dollars from a vendor in the UK. It's a very nice stainless razor. Build quality is great, especially for this price. I was honestly surprised. Now, the shave itself. The audible feedback from this razor is crazy. It's really satisfying hearing it sing through your stubble. Reading reviews online, I had expected it to be aggressive but I didn't find it overly so. I think I would really have to make an error to get a cut from this razor. I ended up getting a tremendous shave and I was surprised that I had honestly never heard of this razor before this thread. It will certainly be a keeper. At this price, I think it's a no brainer. My only real complaint is that I am spoiled by the thin profile of the head of the WR1, which makes cutting specific, predictable, sharp lines for my beard or mustache much more precise.

I'm still not sure Titanium is for me - but I'll never know if I don't try one...

Just saw the two colours they offer in the Blackbird TI, I'm now thinking about getting the light blue Blackbird TI with the closed comb, and later on add the open comb.

Have anyone tried the Blackland Blackbird titanium razor ?

What worries me is the weight - it's only 54 gram, and that's light for a Titanium razor.

I like a bit of heft to a razor, which is why I like stainless steel razors.
But I own the Henson Mild and Medium aluminum razors, and they are only 37 grams each, so I can definitely adapt to a lighter razor, just not sure it's what I'm really after.....

Claus (and All), just following up on this...

Without planning to, I've used my BB Ti for every shave for the past probably ~5 weeks, I've lost track... Like I said, it wasn't planned. And probably ~85% of my shaves for the past 3-4 months. Also not planned. My hand just isn't reaching for anything else. I'll definitely still keep the BB SS and use it. It's fantastic, and you might want to go with the SS if that's what you normally prefer. (Or both!) I had a lot of experience with the SS before I bought the Ti, it's wonderful too.

Other than those two BBs and the RR Lupo (aluminum), I really could see myself getting rid of all my other razors... Or at least, putting them in storage and see if I ever want to use them again.

Hey Nero,

I’m in the process of ordering the Blackland Blackbird in SS.

I like a heavy razor.

My reason to stay with SS is that I prefer 100+ gram razors over the lighter zinc alloy razors 9/10.

I think titanium is over my budget currently since it would set me back to the weight of a zinc alloy razor (60-85 gram) and I won’t accept paying that premium for what in my hands most likely would turn out to be a set back.

I may buy one or two titanium razors within the next couple years, just to know how they feel - but SS is where my focus is right now and I can’t see that changing.

Sounds good, Claus. Love to hear your thoughts on the SS after you've had some time with it.

The Blackbird is magnificent. I have it in all the available metals. I do tend to favor heavier razors, maybe because that was my first razor, the Merkur 38C. I also favor more efficient ones. The Blackbird is incredibly efficient and there is some blade feel but I personally don't find it overwhelming. I hope you like it as much as I do!!!

I know they aren’t in production, but the RS10 for me is the stick for which all other razors are measured.

Tatara also makes some great razors. They look gorgeous as well.
