Guys,
I need your collective wisdom here.  I want to purchase a higher end SS razor that is capable of being an everyday shaver as well as being able to efficiently mow down a couple of days or more growth.  I can’t afford to buy every new razor that comes out, so I want to make this count.  The only SS razor I own now is a Dart which I find a bit harsh on my face.  I’m considering a Blackbird, Carbon Cx, Homelike Start, Alpha Outlaw, and a Tatara Masamune.  I would consider a CG, but I just don’t like the handle options now.  I also own a brass Timeless OC, but I find it to be too harsh for a daily razor.  I’ve thought about getting the SB plate to compare it with the OC.  However, I’m not crazy about bronze razors.  Any thoughts you have about the razors I’ve mentioned or other suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

Go with a Rockwell 6S. It has the best of all worlds. Multiple plates with a very smooth shave at all levels and an excellent price. Not the prettiest but functional.

I forgot to mention I do have a Rockwell 6C...use the 4 plate the most.

Hmmm, that's a pretty disparate group of candidates, IMO. It makes it hard for me to discern what your preferences truly are.

I know the Dart is one you find "too much" as a daily, but do you generally want blade feel? Am I right in assuming you want more blade forwardness than the Rockwell 6C provides? I'm tempted to suggest the Haircut & Shave Co. N075, but I kinda feel like I'm only recommending it because it's something I really like (as a former Rockwell 6S daily user) as opposed to something I think YOU would like.

I've got the Dart and Blackbird. If you find the Dart harsh, I recommend against the Blackbird. On my face, the Blackbird is much more blade-forward than the Dart.

Have you considered a polished Ti razor from Timeless? Titanium has a softer feel against one’s face and you can choose your blade gap. A real steal at just over $200, if you buy “scratch & dent” ( which is virtually indistinguishable from brand new).

This, or a SS Timeless. The .95SB in SS or Ti should be much more comfortable than that bronze OC razor. Totally different razor (head geometry, etc). If you don’t want to spend that much money, the Game Changer .84SB is a pretty incredible shaver and an even better value.  I would actually start there.

The Timeless razor is a great choice The Ti .68 OC is a great daily driver for me and you can always get a .95 baseplate for when you skip a few days. Watch the BST there is usually a good one up for sale most of the time. If you go Tatara I find the Nodochi Top cap with the Masamune SB baseplate to be an excellent combo..If you can pick up a Paradigm Diamondback on the BST that also is a great smooth shaver.

All the razors on your list are good. Just pick the one you're most interested in or attracted to that has a return policy. Try the razor and if you love it, keep it. If you don't, use the return policy. Repeat until you find a razor you love.

I'd forgotten about Shane's return policy. If you're set on a Blackbird, give it a risk-free trial. I've got the Dart, Blackbird, Vector and Sabre, and they're all works of engineering and production art.

I think the Timeless SS suggestions are on point. I've got a .95 open comb that is very face friendly, yet efficient.
