I got my splitfire cap for my R41. What does this suppose to do for the razor?

Did you mean spitfire 3d printing R41 cap ?. I got one almost 2 years ago from a guy from TSN. Paid $25 for a piece of plastic that did nothing then the stud broke off and I contacted the guy. He never had the company send me a replacement and I never bothered with it again. Maybe you will have better luck. There was suppose to be a metal chrome version but that never came to pass.

There were some production issues with the Spitfire cap but I think they were overcome - all the ones where the thread broke were replaced by the manufacturer (Shapeways) on request.
And mine is great!

It's a replica of the 2011 R41 cap and lets you convert your 2013 R41 into a razor that shaves like a 2011.

There's also the Hurricane which gives a similar but smoother shave, and the Lancaster which is a replica of the 2013 R41 cap.

And I think they're all still available from Shapeways.
It's a nice bit of kit and looks very cool too.

Mine was never replaced even so I was promised one. The company Shapeways keeps sending me email advertisements.

So you didn't get yours directly from Shapeways?
Maybe contact them for a replacement - I think it was important for them that this issue was overcome, it was a teething problem with the 3D printing process.
Also the guy who actually invented the Spitfire cap, aimsport, is well known on shaving forums and I'm sure he could help you out with this.

The Spitfire cap is marketed as an experimental beta and it is a great accessory for your R41.

I replicated the Hurricane cap by filing down my 2013 R41 cap from 22mm width to 18.6mm width - it's equally aggressive and a lot smoother than the Spitfire, but the Spitfire gives an amazing edgey shave whose only rival must be the Shavecraft Tech.
