What do you use if your skin is prone for ingrown hairs?

Right now and for the past few months, I've only been using my stirling sandalwood ASB post shave, and that's all. In fact, I use the ASB everyday, whether I shave or not - it helps with my beard.

I've read that balms can be problematic for folks who are prone to ingrowns because it clogs the pores and helps to keep the hairs trapped beneath the skin.

Balms aren't problematic as long as you exfoliate every now and again, which the razor naturally does. Actually, splashes can offer a lot more trouble since the alcohol can dry the skin, lead to flakes, and clog pores. It depends on your skin type really.

I'd suggest a heavier alcohol-free balm like Antica Barbieria Colla Apricot Hull, or an alcohol-free aftershave gel like Penhaligon's Bayolea (I think is the one?).

Have you tried the Myrsol Emulsion? If not, I recommend it.

I don't have this problem, but Emulsion is amazing, worth a try for sure.

I'm going to pick up some thayers unscented witch hazel at walmart tomorrow to give it a whirl.

Make sure you pick up the alcohol free Thayer's! There are two versions.

That's the plan.

I've had the best results from using Tend Skin twice a day, followed by a moisturizer. On shave days I use a light balm, non-shave days and evenings I use Nivea Creme.

on my trip to walmart tonight, I'm picking up some ingredients I don't have at home to make my own tend skin. I made some years back, but it smells very vinegary, so I tossed it a day or two ago.

I'm using this recipe: http://thelimericklane.com/2012/03/homem...in-recipe/
