I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't save or hoard any of my shaving soaps; for me nearly all of them are great in one way or another, and I just use them all equally. And at this autumnal stage of my life, every shave is a "special occasion."

Then it's a minority of two

Life is too short and soap is too cheap to not use special soap everyday

There is no point in using anything else

There is no 'special' soap in my den. I use them all, equally. Shy

My favorite includes I Coloniali, C&S, B&M, SV and a couple more.

Better load up, Icoloniali is being discontinued!

I have found myself rationing some Barrister and Mann soap recently. Not so much for special occasions. More like saving it for when the scent is more seasonal and aligned with the weather.

It's 85 degrees here today and will be tomorrow as well.

I kind of want to be able to enjoy the Beaudelaire and Cologne Russe when I'm not going to sweat it off right away.

There are no soaps that I try to save on, other than my growing collection of discontinued B&M soaps (like the Fougéres you mentioned) and that's only because you can't get them anymore. For special occasions however, there are a bunch of soaps that I think of first - for example, my Saponificio Varesino combos. Very high-end, plush offerings for those "special shaves."

Here is my special occasion shaving soaps list:

Dinner for two - Creed Original Vetiver
Board Meeting - Tabac or Sir Irisch Moos
Gentleman's club visit - P160 Tipo Morbido
Party - anything goes!

I have never tried to use a soap sparingly. I grab whatever sounds good for my mood and load heavy. My two current favorite soaps are Mickey Lee Soapworks Grand Havana and B&M Glissant Adagio, and my favorite aftershave is by far Chatillon Lux Colbeck.
