I know we all have soaps/creams that we love.... but there are also soaps and creams that we REALLY LOVE (and hence tend to hoard for one reason or another).

For me that's both of Barrister_N_Mann's Fougère (Aromatique and Imperiale) in tallow.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm an oakmoss lover at heart (I also am obsessed with Chypres) coupled with the fact that Fougères are no longer slated for production anymore due to ingredient sourcing costs results in me rationing the stuff for as long as I can.

...

So what say you, DFS. What's your 'special occasion' soap?

My "special occasion" soaps would be either B&M Le Grand Chypre or Cologne Russe

I accumulated quite a bit of stuff over my first couple of years. Most via PIF, passaround, or gifts, and just a few via purchase. I'm in the process of using up what I have before buying anything new. I haven't purchased any new software all year, and I can probably go another year before needing to. Because of that, I've been using my favorites sparingly, mainly on special occasions and date nights with the wife.

I WAS rationing and hoarding LGC, until I found out that it will be produced in the forseeable future... Then my anxiety went down.... I'm down to 3 bottles/tubs of soap and aftershave combos.

As it so happens, Barrister and Mann is behind some of my ”special occasion” (as in date night, or I just want to feel fancy & sophisticated) scents. Right now, they are Beaudelaire and 42.

Others that I tend to save for something else than the average day are Mystic Water Soap’s Egyptian Dragon and White Tea & Ginger, Cold River Soap Works’ Puro Fresco and RazoRock’s Tuscan Oud.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

My current favorites are below. No issues with price or availability. More that I made a commitment to not buy any more soaps until I've finished most of my current stock.

Stirling Sharp Dressed Man
Stirling Executive Man
Route 66 Bourbon Jungle
WSP Formula T Gaelic Tweed

I'm in the process of reducing my inventory and have only been using soaps that will not be replaced, they are all excellent soaps but just don't feel getting another one, for one reason or another. I have therefore been using my favorite soaps occasionally but once I've used up most of my soaps I'll be left with these few favorites that will be used more often, assuming I don't buy more than I've used up. My favorite includes I Coloniali, C&S, B&M, SV and a couple more.

I traveled to my sons wedding on June 18th. The only soap I took on the road with me was Waterlyptus by CB. Now, every time I reach for it, it reminds me of my son maturing to manhood and officially beginning his life's journey with his new bride.

For me it's the out of production or very hard to get soaps.

Things like;
William's shave stick with the rose scent.
Courier and Ives soap.
