Call me a glutton for punishment, but I decided to give the Razorock GC .84 another chance, this time with a Perma-Sharp blade. As you can see from the picture, one of the tools used today was a styptic pencil. That should be your first indication of how things went...
Shower: Stirling Executive Man bar soap
Preshave: PAA Cube 2.0 wash, plus 2nd application preshave
Razor: Razorock Game Changer .84
Blade: Perma-Sharp
Soap: Razorock XXX
Bowl: Timeless
Brush: AP G5C
Post-shave: Cold rinse, Thayer's WH/Aloe unscented
Aftershave: Razorock XXX
Balm: Proraso sensitive oats and green tea
It was a Razorock day, I had new-found confidence today and thought maybe a Perma-Sharp would be a little milder than my previous attempt with an Astra blade. Well I think my technique has improved but the RR GC .84 remains a bit aggressive for me. I nicked myself numerous times and felt like I had to stop and not do much in the way of touching up for fear of too much irritation. I chose Thayer's today instead of Alum because I didn't have the heart for the burn.
I do have another GC .68 on the way, as well as a Rockwell 6C, looking for a milder shave. I think I'll try a Tatara Muramasa as well, that looks to be the best adjustable for my sensitive skin, so working up to that one. Otherwise the RR XXX scent is quite nice, there's a bit of Lime and Anise in there to my nostrils and its quite refreshing and manly at the same time.
Thanks for reading!
