- Eufros Premium "Gea"
- Edwin Jagger Kelvin&Feather #5
- Semogue 1305
- Speick+Eufros Neutro
Fifth use, IIRC, of this Feather blade. The other four were in the Merkur Slant and I decided to switch it into the Kelvin for its final use. Not a good idea. The shave itself wasn't bad, neither nicks nor cuts, but I could feel some irritation and redness when I was done. During the shave the blade was not tugging but it definitely felt like it was short of sharpness, but it didn't seem to be that bad. I am aware that Slants dull the blades faster than other DE razors but, having gotten good 6/7 shaves from Feathers in the 89 head, I thought that in the fifth use it may still be good for another use. Looks like it wasn't so, so lesson learned. The good news is that the Eufros balm calmed down my irritation pretty quick and I felt good after a short while.

I know what a fan of synthetics you are, and you know what a fan of large badger brushes I am, but what I've been experiencing doesn't seem possible. Again I say, NO!Oh, but it is possible — welcome to the synthetic master race.
I know, tomorrow I'm breaking out the Mitchell's Wool Fat, and we'll see what's what
In all honesty, though, I’m sure you will be able to enjoy both types of brushes at various times. The Mitchell’s Wool Fat experiment will be interesting, do share your experience with that one.
Very discouraging. The synthetic made short work of the MWF. The badger, one of my favorites, and a superb knot from Lee, did a fine job, but took more work, and more 'coaxing' of the lather. The Tux synthetic felt like I was lathering a Barrister, CRSW, Caties, etc.
MWF is not my cup of tea, but a good test of lathering.
This is what was left after 4 passes and touchup. I am not amused, Matsilainen, not amused at all.
All the best,
Michael P
