First go with the Maseto 30mm Fan in Finest and I'm encouraged by it so far. The knot has great backbone and density but soft tips, the way I like it. A bit of a lather hog of course but these type of knots take a bit of time to be tamed

I think I'm going to take a chance on an MS 30mm brush. I keep hearing good things. Nice pic as well!

Thanks. I have to say I'm really impressed with it , I bought a couple of brushes from China on ebay way back when I started in 2013 and with varying results. The quality is very good , particularly the knot : great backbone and softness. I was particularly impressed with the packaging as well, very sturdy and robust cardboard box with good protection inside and out. I'm not saying it matches a Chubby 3 but for a 6th of the price it's certainly not a 6th of the quality. As long as it doesn't start to shed hairs I'll be over the moon with my purchase.

Also my first go with the Maseto 30mm Fan; used the 30mm Tux synthetic knot (3rd straight day) for comparison. SMN v2 has been challenging for me in the past with large badger brushes, but both of these brushes did good jobs, althohgh much as I hate to admit it, the Tux was easier to use with this soap.
