Can’t tell you my friend what happened, specifically. I just happened to be on Facebook when I saw that D. Smythe (PAA Owner) had posted a commemorative shave post and mentioned his passing. Sad, sad day indeed. Loved that mans SOTD’s and wonderful shave gear write ups. A loss to the shave community…

I am so sorry to hear that. Matt was a true gentleman, and he had the best SOTDs.
In Reddit, they said he got heart attack yesterday. https://www.reddit.com/r/Wetshaving/comm...z_respond/

That’s awful. He’s in better Hands now. And yes, one of the best SOTD posters if not The Best in the business, bar none…..

Wow, saw this at the end of last week's SOTD. Wasn't sure I read it right. So sad. He was such a nice guy, he will be missed.

- Omega EVO Titano V2

- Kai Excelia, Feather Super
- Tatara Nodachi, Astra SS
- E&S Rasage Equinoxe AS

I've used a fixed handle shavette before, but not for a while, and the change up to a fixed handle tonight was more challenging than I expected.  Even so, I managed to get through a painstaking but bloodless first pass before switching to the Nodachi.
