Pre: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Gel Cleanser w/ Hyaluronic Acid
Lather: Shannon's Soaps The Scarlet Zone
Brush: Yaqi Purple Haze
Bowl: Fine Accoutrements Fine Lather Bowl

Aftershave: Elysian Soap Shop Unscented Balm w/ Menthol

I had a friend send me some soaps to try and review. All are limited edition soaps from Shannon's Soaps and are associated with Ohio.

First up is The Scarlet Zone. This soap is somewhat of a limited edition as this one was from the original release. You can now pick up this soap (exclusively) on the Timeless Razors site (with a co-branded label).

You're probably wondering about the scent. It's loosely described as an "Ohio Aquatic". I know right? What does that mean? Well, its notes are listed as Fern, Coumarin, and Ozone with Bergamot and Jasmine and a base of Amber and Oakmoss.

I hope that helps. For me though, this is a very interesting and unique fragrance. The fragrance is strong, but it's not as simple as scent volume. There's a sharp note. It strikes me as perfumey and floral but there is an aquatic aspect to it. Overall I'd say I liked it, but I don't love it. I definitely give it credit for its uniqueness.

The Rx was a beast with a Super blade installed. I had to use a very light touch and even then I could feel my face getting irritated. I did end up with a nice clean shave.

I opted for some Elysian Unscented Balm but last minute decided to add just a touch of menthol via my menthol grinder. Even the little bit I added went a long way and gave me a nice chilling effect. This was a little bit of experimentation but it turned up well.

That's all for this one. Next up will be the Ohio Wet Shavers meetup soap from 2021.

Take care and enjoy your shaves.
