So, one of those rare happenings that take place every once in a while. Today, I did finish a shaving soap tub. The "Irish Traveller" is gone and I have to admit that I have no intention of replacing it, nor to purchase any other Mystic for the moment. The scent of either this soap or the Lilac that I still own (still a few shaves to go, but not more than three) are great, and if you do dial the lather right, performance is just outstanding, it really is. It's just that you have to be so accurate with water-soap ratio in order to get the right consistency, or so it happens to me. I don't think it's a matter of loading more since I weighed the tub before and after use and average load was 3 grams, which should suffice. Perhaps the water in my area or who knows what, but the thing is that I find them hard to lather, and there are other soaps that equal them in performance, and with which I don't have to see the lather disappearing in my face as I shave.

All in all, a good three pass shave with BBS. I love my boar brushes, and this Omega is no exception.

Beautiful photo, Clint, and that brush is awesome!

Thank you Michael. I have long wanted to try a Shavemac Flat Top. My only regret is waiting so long.

Great lather and wonderful scent with the Taiga. The Gillette Platinum Plus on its eighth use shows no signs of relenting.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

The last gasps of deep, warm scent season are upon us. Squeezing in those rich, warm scents while there's still a little chill left in the air.

Oh stop it, its -15 and snowing here and winter won't start even its first gasps for another month or two. Maybe June.

Man, send some of that snow down my way! We're supposed to get snow showers on Saturday, but it's supposed to be 75F/24C here on Thursday, so I'm sure it's not sticking. We only got two snows this year, and one of them sucked. Total bummer

hawns I really want to try one of these Declaration Brushwork brushes to see, if they really measure up. It is just impossible to get a hold of any...

Prep - Noxzema / Hot towel
Pre shave - Proraso
Razor – ‘The Rock’ (Rockwell 6S – #3)
Blade – Permasharp.
Brush - 'The Duke' (Duke 3 Best)
Soap – Barrister & Mann – Hallows
Post - Cold water rinse, Tallow + Steel – Dark Aftershave

just finished an 18 hour shift, so I was allowed the night off to compensate... made the most of it with a 'full' mid week shave... still not what I'd call a stellar shave with the Hallows, but decent enough...
