What can I say but that I was excited about this shave. I recently won the But First... Coffee soap from a contest on r/Wetshaving and have been eager to try it. Not only have I not every used a coffee scent-inspired shaving soap but I've also never had the pleasure of using a Summer Break Soaps/London Razors soap yet.

It turns out that this soap was an experiment. The focus for it was to be nothing but straight-up black coffee. Which is how I happen to like my coffee. It turns out the first batch was a little light on scent so the second batch was switched to using espresso distillate instead of just coffee distillate, and the addition of some roasted cocoa was added for increased projection.

I'll say that this gourmand smells exactly as described. It has two notes. Espresso and cocoa, or you might say "black chocolate." I thought it fitting to use actual coffee instead of water to build my lather for this shave. You heard me correctly. I used nothing but fresh coffee to whip up the lather. I wanted to add as much coffee scent to the lather as possible. I can't honestly say how much my action helped but hey, it certainly couldn't hurt.

Feeling in need of a good single-edge shave, I opted for a W&B/Gem combination. This combo served me well as I earned a very nice bbs shave. I mean honestly, not much elaboration is needed.

When this wonderful shave was finished, I reached for the always glorious PdP No.63 balm. If you've never smelled this stuff you're really missing out. It's absolutely fantastic and should be in every man's repertoire.

I really love this TNS H4!

The Adjustable M and Schick Injector Twin blade is a winning combination. I'm finding the Hive Disco Haze a bit more adept at face lathering than bowl lathering.
