Second use of a L&L sample, after using the "Harmony" yesterday. I got them from a forum mate over here who was kind enough to send them over for free. Yesterday I misjudged how much water the lather would need and I slightly over hydrated it, yet it provided an excellent shave nonetheless. Today, with the lesson learned, I obtained a dense and protective lather even though the brush was not cooperating so much. It's still in the process of being broken-in and even though the tips are already soft and, upon visual inspection, most of them appear to have already split in two (or three), it seems kind of "lazy" to whip up the lather. It eventually does and the quality of the lather was excellent. It just took a bit more than expected. I have a feeling, though, that it's worth insisting with this petite and inexpensive brush. Once it reaches its full potential, it might embarrass my badger brushes. As for the soap, I really liked the scent. Quite suitable for spring and summertime and with the right amount of intensity, not faint nor overwhelming. Performance on par with those that have given me the best shaves, namely the Mystics and Eufros Tallow.
Excellent three pass shave with my favorite multiblade razor, the Gillette Contour. Best of two worlds, IMHO. It requires the attention and good technique of a DE razor but will deliver the consistent shaves we expect from modern pivoting head razors.
- L&L "After the Rain".
- Semogue 1470 boar brush
- Gillette Contour 1979
- DIY lotion+Bulldog balm
