Even with the acquisition of so many straights over the last 3-4 months, this razor remains at the top of the rotation. I don't know what Allegheny Instruments Corporation did to their blade steel, but whatever it was, they did it right. Just a great razor. Smooth, clean, and soft.

A couple of days ago, primotenore posted a SOTD with C.O. Bigelow Shaving Cream.  This inspired me to finally try the tube of the same shaving cream I had purchased a while ago and never tried.  It worked for me and I ended up with a great shave!  That got me thinking about using some of the other shaving creams I had acquired, but never used.  I normally use shaving soap.

Today I tried Coates Lime shaving cream.  Unfortunately, by my 2nd pass, I felt the familiar sensation of a bad reaction of the cream on my skin.  I ended up with a decent shave, but with a red face, red neck, and irritation.  Not all bad, but not a great experience either.  I DO wish I knew where my tub of raw unrefined shea butter was hiding as this would calm the burning much better than the moisturizer I did find this fine morning.  Live and learn, I guess.  

I still plan on continuing with my little adventure in shaving cream for the next few days, regardless of my results today.  Wish me luck, folks!
