Great shave! The Rattler performed phenomenally well and I even forgot to strop it! I must have stropped it after I honed it so I’m not too worried about that. The edge was very nice and should meet any expectation of shave ready! The Hallows soap has one of the best scents ever and might even pick up a second set because that’s how much I love it. Performance was great as well aside from me having too much water remaining from the shower, the soap base was nice and slick and left a great post shave feel. I was also able to do touch ups without having to re apply more soap.

2018-10-02 SOTN (last night)

I had a great and very fun shave last night.  Mohammad, at Grooming Dept, sent me two soap samples, Coattails and Janus.  I could not wait to try them, so I ditched my “Fixed Four” change control for the occasion and had at it.  Last night I shaved with Coattails.  

Coattails is a very thirsty soap, and it may well be the slickest soap I have ever shaved with.  How slick?  Well, I could not get a grip on the OneBlade, a problem I have not had before, so I had to adjust my hold to grip the OneBlade mostly at the neck or the end of the handle.  This would have been a PITA if it were not so comical, and if the shave had not turned out so well.  Fortunately, the cushion was also excellent, which I imagine gave me some extra margin for error.  I'm sure the forgiving nature of the OneBlade also helped quite a bit.  I did one pass with the DX (with no problem gripping the DX), and switched to the OneBlade.  The result was a bloodless BBS and a superb post:  My skin did not even know I shaved!  If all goes well, I will put on a few days growth and try the Janus.
