Hello all! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

Great (albeit rushed) shave this morning. Hit the snooze button more than normal this morning. Went back to Stirling and their excellent "Bay Rum" shave soap. Wonderful scent and lather built with the Wild West Brushworks "REM Cycle" ST brush for two passes (+ touch-up) and I finished with a splash of Barberry Coast "No.28 Bay Rum Aftershave" and several sprays of Hemingway Accoutrements "Nature Isle" EdP.

Hope you have a great day. Smile

Here we are at the start of a new month and what a wonderful one it is. Not only is this my birthday month but it's also Modern May. Woo hoo!

Coming off the heels of Vintage April, this month's event will be a fun one. I'll get to switch over to using all of my modern razors after last month's vintage only event.

So, with all that said, this was a shave I was looking forward to as it was my first time using a Declaration Grooming shaving soap. Thanks to my buddy for sending me this sample, because now I just found a new favorite.

Fake Yellow Light smells so freakin' good! I can't tell you how badly I want the matching aftershave after smelling the fragrance of this soap.

Fake Yellow Light is listed as having notes of leather, tobacco, amber, chestnut, almond, chai, cognac, walnut, and vanilla. Those are in no particular order by the way. All I can say is that I love it and you really should check this one out! It's flippin' amazing!

To kick off Modern May I did a three-pass shave with my Blackland Era fitted with the level 5 open-comb base plate. This is a razor that unfortunately was retired way before its time. It's beautiful in both form and function. And at level 5, is quite the shaving beast.

With a skilled hand and a light touch, I got a great shave. I was very happy to have used this razor after having not for what feels like such a long time without it. The Era a is great razor and I'm glad I have one.

To close out my shave I wanted something at least a little like the beautiful fragrance that is Fake Yellow Light so, I pulled out some PdP No.63 balm, and man is its scent great too. I think I got close enough. I mean, at least I was pleased with my choice.

All around another glorious shave was had. Thanks for reading and have a great shave.
