Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,487

Nice shave other than the burning sensation by the 3rd pass as well as during aftershave application. I want to keep this set but may need to let it go. The burning is gone within 5 minutes or so but just not caring for that affect after a shave. We all want the nice comfortable feeling of smoothness etc. If you are someone in the states that was wanting this soap & Splash but missed it....message me and we can work something out. Have a great day Everyone !

Shower: Siliski Lemongrass bar
Preshave: PAA Cube 2.0
Soap: Tabac
Bowl: Timeless
Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket
Razors: Rex Konsul and Heritage Gibbs clone
Blades: Treet black, day 1 in each
PostShave: CWR, Alum, Thayers
Balm: Proraso Sensitive
AfterShave: PInaud Clubman

Today I felt like comparing a new razor I just got (Heritage Gibbs clone) and the Rex Konsul. I didn't have high expectations on the Heritage given what I had read and the build quality. More on that later. Also I was in a bit of a quandry in terms of what I wanted to use in terms of software, but I knew it felt like a Clubman day, so I kind of made it an "old school" day and pulled in the Tabac and Proraso products. They all play relatively well together.

So, in terms of shaving - the Rex Konsul is of course a masterpiece. It shaves IMHO about as good as any razor I've used. Efficiency without blade feel. Very easy to use. The Heritage actually shaved relatively well. Not quite as nice as the Konsul, but a pretty close second. As I mentioned the build quality is not the greatest on the Heritage, it looks and feels like a $60 razor, obviously not even in the same ballpark as the Rex, but again not near the cost either. But given the Konsul is a slant and the Heritage isn't, it seemed to keep up rather well in terms of efficiency, quality of shave, and no nicks. I think there's a tiny bit more abrasion on the skin from the Heritage, as the Alum block on the Heritage side was more noticable. But not a huge difference. So I'm not sold on the Heritage, but I may keep it for a bit and see how it holds up. One thing I don't like about the Heritage though is the handle feels very short and small in the hand. I have big hands and the Rex feels great, but the Heritage really felt much much smaller, shorter, etc. I don't like that and might be a reason that I don't keep it in the rotation. It doesn't look much smaller than my early Gillettes, like a Slim, but it sure feels different (and not in a good way IMHO).

Anyhow, that's it for today. All the best holiday joy to my brothers in shaveland, and please do keep looking up!

Boar brushes, brass razors, and hard pucks ARE traditional wet shaving. Everything else is modern day fluff for the girly men.

Prep: Hot towel
Razor: Rockwell 6S – #3
Blade: Bolzano
Brush: Rooney Heritage 2XL Jade
Soap: Eufros: Tobacco (Tallow)
Post: CeraVe moisturising lotion..

a sublime shave, the scent of the Eufros Tobacco soap is quite simply divine, a beautiful sweet tobacco that definitely lifts your spirits. The base is without a doubt top tier, with a lather that is easy to build, slick, and the post shave leaves your skin feeling nice and soft. I settled for Enigma pour Homme Cologne to finish off this wonderful shave. Definitely feeling good!
