Today's lather with the Cella was slightly thinner than I would have wished. I'm not sure whether this could be directly attributable to the badger brush, and its superior water retention capabilities over my usual Plisson synthetic, but that's my guess. Nonetheless, the lather worked well and protected my skin well, as indicated by my after shave splash afterwards, which didn't sting any more than it does when things go well.
The Feather blade, in its seventh and final use
, eventually showed some signs of fatigue, providing, however, a flawless three pass shave (WTG, XTG, XTG). My estimation is that it would still cope well with another shave, but seven shaves are fine, when those are seven excellent shaves. What's the point in chancing a bad one?. What is clear to me, is that these blades cost what they do cost for a good reason. Quality wise, they're well above the rest. My beard is coarse and dense, and usually I ditch my blades after the third use. The Feathers go twice that way and still going strong. I don't see them, though, as everyday blades. They require too much of attention, especially during the first two shaves, if you don't wanna have some nice pink lather on your face and sink. But for those days when a closer shave is required and there's plenty of time ahead, the Feather is the way to go. They're sharp, and they're smooth. Win-win. But they're not cheap. You just can't have it all.
A splash of my home brewed lotion and good to go. No need for a balm when I use this stuff.
