SOTD 26 June-2 July 2016

Today was perhaps one of the best shaves in the past few weeks. The credit goes to my new number ONE soap - Bay Rum from the  Obsessive Soap Perfectionist (OSP). One of my most aggressive razors -Mongoose B3 felt more like a Black Mamba. 3 passes, minimal touch up resulted in a perfect BBS without any noticeable irritation. Finished with a generous splash of the exceptional  Small Batch Shave Tonic.

OSP has been on my wishlist for a while, so it's nice to hear how much you like this soap.

Prep: Lots of hot water to the face and a smearing of Prep preshave
Razor: 1940s Super Speed
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless (3)
Brush: Maggard Razors 24mm Purple Swirl
Lather: Tabac
Post: Lucky Tiger then Folsom & Co. Capri

Holy cow, I had forgotten just how good Tabac is. I easily achieved lather perfection today. Super slick and super protective. This is my first rodeo with any MR brush. I do believe MR has a winner here. The knot size is perfect and the way the handle is shaped allows it to easily rest on the edge of a shaving bowl without risk of coming loose and falling in the lather. Bravo!! Of all my brushes this is the best handle.

I was very bummed when I developed an allergy to one of my favorite soaps - B&M. Recently my friend Joe introduced me to two new UK made soaps -OSP and Phoenix & Beau. Both are outstanding soaps. While P&B has better scents to my nose, OSP wins in performance. Both of them are very welcome additions to my den

In this particular shave I used a Feather pro. If I recall correctly this was the fifth full 3-pass shave on this blade. It might sound strange but I find all those blades that I tried (feather pro and Kai captain) perform very similarly after first two shaves.
