SOTN Wednesday, Sept. 28:
Okay, to be honest I
didn't shave last night.
The power was off for 5 hours or so, probably because of delayed effects of hurricane Fiona, which passed us last Friday & Saturday. I didn't feel like burning up butane in the camp stove to heat water just for shaving.
Coincidentally, the day before she hit I was taking inventory of the bottles of butane for the camp stove and found one to which I had taped a label, "Partly used (Dorian)". I had to ask my wife what "Dorian" might have meant, and she immediately remembered "hurricane Dorian", in 2019.

I love shaving after skipping a day, and it turned out very nicely.
Today was also a day of joy because we managed to find a contractor who replaced a crap-load of asphalt shingles on our roof today. Not a perfect match for colour, but we plan to have it redone with a metal roof next spring anyway.
SWMBO would tell people that "we lost a lot of shingles" in the storm, and I would correct her by saying that we knew
exactly where they were - all over our back lawn and two of our neighbours' lawns. That joke never got old.
We still consider ourselves fortunate, compared to folks in Nova Scotia, PEI, Newfoundland, and now Florida.
