42 Friday
I'm excited to attend the B-M event at Maggard's this afternoon. I haven't been to the store in more than a year, and I'm looking forward to meeting the mastermind behind these wonderful products.
The shave was tops - Bronze Shadow made optimal lather quickly, and the Futur demolished my stubble in comfort. I used both Cool and 42 aftershaves to finish up.
Prep: Myrsol Emulsion
Soap: B-M 42
Brush: Brothers Bristles Bronze Shadow
Razor: Merkur Futur 6-6
Blade: Rapira SS
AS: B-M 42, B-M Reserve Cool

SOTD-29sep16:
Ever-Ready 1912 / GEM PTFE Stainless Steel
EnvyShave DFS LE Envy White
Saponificio Varesino 70th Anniversary Shaving Soap and ASB
I know that this SOTD looks very similar to last night's, but there is a method behind my madness. Saponificio Varesino shaving soap is one soap that I never understood the hype it received.(Please put away the pitchforks and torches first and bear with me ) I could only achieve what I considered a very average lather with virtually no residual slickness and also very light and airy. Well, I got to thinking about a thread that a fine member here at DFS started titled, "Don't quit on your lather too soon...." (Hi, primotenore! ) I just couldn't give up on this soap without giving it an honest "don't quit too soon" effort.
Guess what? I was rewarded! Two nights ago, while the lather seemed a little too fluffy for me, it was noticeably heavy with water. I managed a very nice 3-pass shave with the Ever-Ready 1912 and a GEM PTFE blade. Now, last night, I achieved a much more likeable to me yogurty lather that was very slick, protective, and had an abundance of residual slickness. That 2nd shave last night I stuck with the same razor and blade, so as not to change things up too much. I did change shaving brushes(I have to retain some of my insanity!), but I don't suppose two brushes made by EnvyShave with the same Envy White knot are all that different.
Anyway, it's all good and I ended up with two excellent shaves with a soap I hadn't thought much of before.
