GEM MICROMATIC Clog pruf (17 tooth version)
Ted Pella GEM Stainless SE Blade
Omega Pro 49 Boar Brush
Derby Normal Shave Cream
Stephans Island Lime AS
I felt like a nice close shave today so I broke out the old Clogpruf. I always get a close shave from this razor. It’s the 17 tooth version so it cuts a little bit closer than the more common 12 toothers. Normally I prefer carbon steel SE blades; been using Treets exclusively for about 5 years. When I ran out I thought I’d give the Ted Pella stainless coated blades a try so I bought a couple hundred. They were pretty much as I remembered them from years ago. The first shave is a little rough then the rest of the shaves are very smooth and close. I also can get a lot more shaves out of a stainless Pella than a carbon Treet or Blue Star. I guess most folks prefer the Pellas but I still like the Treets. I’ll probably sell what I have left and get more Treets. As usual the Pro 49 lathered like a champ. It’s a nice reliable brush that I can always depend on. It could probably whip good lather up out of vinegar. The Derby cream is a great cream for the money. Does it have the protective qualities of a $30 cream? Probably not but it does the job just fine. I love the Island Lime in the summer. It comes close to smelling like lollipop lime (which I do not like) but then calms down as the day goes on. Anyway, a nice summers eve shave.
