From Russia with love!
I recently obtained a nice bundle of shave creams and in the mix was this little guy from Russia. I don't read Russian so all I know is what little English is available and that it's for sensitive skin. Scent wise, there is none to my nose. I'm sure it has a hint but it's so light it might as well be nonexistent. The lather was pretty good though! Decent amount of gide, slickness, and cushion and just a small amount of cream was enough for a 3 pass shave. Post feel was what you would expect. Didn't dry me out but didn't leave me feeling conditioned or hydrated. I would not recommend an aggressive set up or straight razor with this cream.
To whip up the lather I used my Yaqi synthetic. This little fella is a rather popular one, seeing it in a number of fellow wet shavers STOD's. It is a work horse capable of building a fantastic lather on any soap or cream I use. An excellent brush at an excellent price! It's proof you do not need to spend a lot to have a great brush in your den!
To scrape off the stubble I used my Parker Variant. This razor hands down has beat out razors that I've owned that cost me 3 to 4 times the price! The added bonus is its adjustable! For this run I kept it kind of mild and set it at 2.5. Blade of choice was also a 1st time for me and was a Lord Super Stainless. I enjoy the Lord Platinums so was happy to give these a go. I felt they were just a hair more aggressive than my GSB but still provided a smooth, irritation free shave.
Finished off with the ever popular and sought after F&C Black Powder. Unfortunately no longer available. Same performance as Fine Accouterments and the scent is a dupe of La Nuit de L'Homme and is probably one of the best scents out there IMO! If it's one you would have loved to try or have had and miss, check out Through the Fire Fine crafts. They have a soap and splash set called "The Beast" which is also modeled after the scent. Happy shaves everyone!
