The Dark Lord of Wet Shaving
Pre-shave:- Cold Shower
Bowl/Scuttle:- Captain's Choice
Brush:- Semogue SOC 2 Band Finest Badger in Taj Resin 24/53mm knot
Soap/Cream:- Ariana & Evans ~ Ouddiction (Honey Oud) sample only
Razor/Blade:- Fatip Testina Gentile CC / Gillette Stainless (red & white pack) #2
Post/After-shave:- T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel Astringent mixed into the 240ml bottle with Invite E High Potency Pure Oil (10 drops), Natural Plant Glycerin (20) & Tea Tree Oil Antiseptic (5)
Fragrance:- Tommy Hilfiger for Men

I got a sample of A&E Ouddiction (Honey Oud) from a friend I've mine I had lunch today from lodge, this soap is a MUST! have in the den is great for Autumn and Winter season.

I know most wet shavers aren't a fan of cinnamon, because, too much cinnamon can give you allergic reaction or bad irritation on the skin so you need to be extra careful.

This soap A&E Ouddiction (Honey Oud) has a touch more cinnamon than the Declaration Grooming Massacre of the Innocents (milksteak base), the Ouddiction scent opens up with cinnamon, vanilla and honey. I can smell all together with a light rose with sandalwood, honey, oud and vanilla, then I get the spicy cinnamon scent in the background with Tobacco, Bergamot and Patchouli. This is a very warm and wonderful mid-dark scent for Autumn and Winter season, and the BEST part about this soap is also FANTASTIC! combination together with a great drink of a nice triple belt of Sailor Jerry Spice Rum which has vanilla and oak with hints of clove and cinnamon spices.

SOTD TUESDAY MORNING, JANUARY 26, 2021

In honour of my friend Jason’s NB21 win yesterday, I decided to break out the Christopher Bradley safety razor from Karve Shaving. This was my first modern artisan safety razor purchase several years ago and one of only four or five of that grouping that remain in my den, I loaded the D_OC plate and prepared for what turned out to be a superb two ATG pass dome shave. Removed the top from a bump on the left side of the dome during the first pass, which surprising disappeared after relathering the noggin with the A&E Shaving Butter. I’m really starting to like this stuff, and decided to use it in the same way I do my trusty MWF.

So after my three pass mug shave with my still favorite straight, the Manhattan Cutlery French Point 13/16’s Sheffield blade, I washed my mug with the Shaving Butter brush squeezings leaving it on both dome and mug while I cleaned up. The finish involved rinsing the lather off with Humphreys Lilac WH which ended my shave. The shave surfaces feel as if a fine balm was applied leaving me feeling velveteen smooth, clean and ready for another day of leisure! Just kidding, today’s the day I spend volunteering at my local dachshund rescue with my own dachshund, Gromit. His specialty is getting the frightened and abused little ones to come out of their shells and play! He’s quite good at it. Enjoy your day, my shave brothers and sisters.

RAZOR: Sheffield Manhattan Cutlery French Point 13/16 (Mug), Christopher Bradley Safety Razor from Karve Shaving with Wide Body Cap (Dome)
BLADE: Sharp Star DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE Monster Tuxedo Synth
CREAM/CROAP: A&E Shaving Butter
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH.

Great writeup - informative and entertaining, as usual - but mostly ... Three cheers for you and Gromit!

Thanks for the kind words, Mike! Much appreciated!

Wolfman Wednesday, plus one ...
WR2 SS 1.05 with WRH1 solid handle, basic polish
Yaqi Mocha handle w/26 mm knot
Lather & Wood Shaving Co. “Sandalwood”
Two-point five passes ... DFS-BBS

The razor was purchased from James directly after a nine-month wait.  I got on the list last February, before COVID really showed us what it could do.  The razor ended up being a kind of unintended Birthday present to myself.  It’s definitely a special razor.  Mild feeling, incredibly smooth and close shaving without irritation.  It’s not going anywhere, as long as I have a say in it.  The brush, labelled “26 mm,” sure seems much bigger.  So much so that I’m reminded of a story I heard, heck I don’t know when it was and I’m sure I’ve got the details wrong but I remember the gist of it.  It was about a propaganda campaign (remember those...., before this “interweb’ thingy made propaganda such a pervasive, everyday, 24-hours, 60 minutes, 60 seconds per thing?)... Anyway, the idea was to air-drop condoms, sized extra-large but labeled “small,” over enemy territory to “demoralize” enemy combatants.  I know, not PC and things are different now, etc.  The thing is, I didn’t come up with the idea so don’t call me names.  Anyway, I think the Yaqi Company might be trying to demoralize other shaving brush manufacturers.  The soap is called “sandalwood” but it sure smells like cedar to me.  That’s a scent I like so it’s all good.  Finally, the wood used to build this table is cedar that was reclaimed in 2015 from what used to be the exterior of our house.  Now the house dates back to 1905, but that particular room was an addition, done sometime before 1943 when my wife’s father bought the house.  Then, the exterior porch was enclosed and the cedar exterior was covered with knotty pine.  Well, anyway that wood was probably more than 100 years old when I rediscovered it and repurposed it for the table.  It was as hard as a rock.  I kid you not.  But when I was refinishing it, out in the back yard on a bright sunny day, the Sun (I capitalize it’s name intentionally because it’s so darned important, fundamental really) was hitting that old cedar.  After a while the boards got hot and the sap began oozing out of the wood in spots.  After more than 100 years, there it was ... that fresh pungent smell of cedar, coming off those boards.

Happy Shaves.
