I got this sample from Manuel and didn't quite much like it when I whiffed at it. It smelled to me like there was some resinous (the spices, obviously) note overwhelming the lime, which you could smell but just in the background. Today I decided to give it a go and see if the scent was any better when lathered, and indeed it is. The lime takes the lead and the spices are there, but not somehow milded down. As for the menthol level, my experience with menthol is quite limited, I just have used the Lea Classic cream which is, they say, mildly mentholated. This one is stronger. You feel and smell the menthol right as you lather the soap, whereas with the Lea you start feeling the cooling action in the second pass. BTW, this soap is still from Manuel's vegetal range, not yet produced in its tallow form.
Great three pass shave. The Silver Blues are not the cheapest blades out there but they are worth their cost. Outstanding blades.
