gone to Carolina in my mind
This was yesterday's shave, and it was my first rodeo with Kentucky Rain.  IMO Kentucky Rain deserves every bit of buzz it has generated.  The soap and aftershave do their jobs very nicely, and the scent is both beguilingly delightful and very clearly present throughout the shave.

Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum
Aftershave: Elysian Soap Shop Pineapple Ambrosia

With a sense of curiosity and a willingness to explore I decided to try combining Elysian Soap Shop's Pineapple Ambrosia aftershave with Pinaud's Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum. I decided to do this because I don't have the actual Phoenix Shaving Pineapple Bay Rum aftershave.

In a general sense, I consider myself naive to the world of Bay Rum. VIBR is the depth of my experience until lately with my acquisitions of both this soap and P.A.A.'s Atomic Age Bay Rum (that I've yet to use).

With this shave, I took my time enjoying the W&B. Doing this sort of turned this shave into more of a therapy session than just a shave. After taking my time with this razor I walked away clean-shaven and pleased. I'll say his razor is a little hefty but was still easy and fun to use.

In regards to the soap, the more time I spent smelling the soap the more I liked it. Turns out that pineapple and bay rum make a really good combo! This is definitely a scent I'd like to always have in my shave den going forward.

The real magic happened after my shave though when I mixed the two aftershaves together. If you saw my last shave you know how much really love Pineapple Ambrosia. It's sweet, has a little coconut in it, and is so freakin' good! The VIBR is strong with a pronounced spice/clove vibe. Blending the two however, was a fun surprise that turned out exactly as expected. It was a pineapple, bay rum heaven with each complimenting the other. Thankfully.

So, until I pick up the matching aftershave for the soap, I know that I can rely on this nifty little concoction.

Alright well, that's it for today. Thanks for reading and enjoy your shaves.

Excellent first time shave with the Sheild Avenger AC razor. Very impressive I must say.
