Today I had the pleasure of shaving with a new soap from an artisan I've never tried before. We're talking Fruit Rings from Alien Shave. This soap is Alien Shave's Formula 51 base. It's a soap that contains oils of coconut, palm, safflower, argan, shea butter and goat's milk. More about this later.
From the label art alone you should have a pretty clear picture of what this soap smells like. Let me tell you though, it's freakin amazing! Lol. I swear! If I were blindfolded smelling this I would think there was a bowl of cereal right under my nose. Not only are the fruit scents there but there's also the cereal component. I don't know how they did it but the overall scent is spot on. Bravo on this one Alien Shave.
With the soap being dense, I simply loaded my brush off the jar and built the lather on my face. I found the lather to be slick and protective with the scent volume dialed up high. Just how I like it.
Hardware wise I went with one of my most favorite razors. One of the best I've ever used. The Bandit from Alpha Shaving Works. This brass prototype is the $#]+! It's a solid tool that's effective, efficient, and good-looking all at the same time.
I did a three-pass shave and earned a bbs face all the while basking in the beautiful fruity cereal scent that is Fruit Rings. I wasn't sure what aftershave to use so I thought Lucky Tiger would be an appropriate match considering its citrus scent. And I was right. It worked out well.
Back to the soap. The post-shave feel was very good. I think the inclusion of many natural ingredients like goat milk, shea butter, marshmallow root extract, and oat straw extract, combine to give a great result. My skin feels very soft and hydrated afterward.
I had a great shave that was enlightening and fun. I'd say the only problem I had was shaving with this soap before having breakfast.
Thanks for reading, take care, and enjoy your shaves.
