Two elements in this photo are about to be finished (yes, we do finish some stuff from time to time
). The Mystic Lilac will probably last for a couple of shaves, being optimistic, provided that with these soaps, you need to load "as if you hated it" (Michelle dixit). The "made in Germany" Tüff lotion will last some more, but it's in its final quarter also. A good lotion that I would recommend and almost as good as my beloved Speick, but it's time to move on and next, I wanna try those Thayer's. As for the soap, this Mystic and its "Irish Traveller" sibling are the best soaps I've used. That simple. It's just that you have to be quite precise with how much you load, and how much water you add to the mixture, at least in my experience. Most other soaps are much more forgiving in this sense, and, for a fact, I've found these Mystics to be more difficult to properly lather than the dreaded Mitchell's Wool Fat (never had trouble lathering that one, actually). To honour the truth, if you do get the lather right, you'll be rewarded by a top performance lather. Slick and protective like no other. But it's time to move on to other artisans, and see if I get similar performance without being that tense when lathering up. Candidates are Mike's and Mickey Lee's, meanwhile, Manuel from JabonMan is adding new scents to his new Premium Tallow line and I'll need to get some of that, too.
All in all, a beautiful, BBS shave in three passes.
