I understand that they are now releasing the "formulas" for their scents in that they're documenting the percentages of each EO. I did not realize their soap base was changing again (as you call it the 3rd generation). Are you certain? Their first base was firm with the stamped T+S logo on the soap itself, but last year, when they started doing regional homages (Boreal, West Indies, Maya, Morocco, etc.) they changed their base. Are you saying there's now a 3rd generation? Can you provide a link?Chris Bradley Karve F-Plate

I knew before I had begun that this shave was going to be exquisite. My favourite brush, what is currently my favourite razor, and a new T+S soap base/scent that was expected to perform.
For some reason, I had imagined the 3rd generation soap base to be of a harder consistency. It's actually very similar to the one it replaces. It lathers just as easily and I'd say performance is on par. Possibly, there is a tad more slickness, but since the last version was so good, it would be no easy task to better.
I am useless a describing scents. I know what I like and what I don't. I'll be forward enough to say that this is a citrus/woody scent and is a darker scent to what I had imagined. It's a gorgeous scent to my nose and one I certainly need to buy another of.

Thank you.
Yes, Ryan announced in the Merchant's forum that the base was being modified so that there would be less interaction with the scents. To be honest, i couldn't tell any difference between V2 and V3.
Here's an ingredients list for V3 and V2 in that order..
Stearic Acid, Water, Organic Argan Oil, Organic Glycerin, Essential Oils, Organic Castor Oil, Organic Safflower Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Tallow (Pasture-Raised), Organic Coconut Oil, Bentonite Clay, Sodium Hydroxide, Vitamin E, Silk
