Its a Stirling Green day! I felt the calling to go back to the 80's and the (in?)famous Polo Green done by Stirling. We'll see where this goes today Smile

Shower: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man bar soap
Preshave: PAA Cube 2.0
Razor: Tatara Masamune
Blade: Perma-Sharp, day 2
Soap: Stirling Green
Bowl: Timeless
Brush: AP G5C
PostShave: Cold water, Thayer's witch hazel/aloe unscented, cold water
Aftershave: Stirling Green
Balm: Stirling unscented balm

I'm coming to the conclusion that the Masamune might be a touch too mild for me. Great razor, but I spend a good deal of time redoing/buffing spots. Might be some technique, some blade selection, and maybe just mildness. I'll work through that in the next few days as I work through a few other razors that I've acquired recently (Rex Ambassador, a few vintage Gillettes, etc).

The Stirling Green is fun. Its somewhat reminiscent of Polo, with what seems to me to be a touch more pine/cypress scenting. Nonetheless fun.

My wife is having surgery on Friday, so please do pray for her health and safety and peace. Today I'm looking forward to lunch with pastor, a lighter work day, and preparing for a visit by family, followed by a trip to the Carib! So lots of things on the near term radar.

Thanks for reading, blessings to all my brothers, and be kind and keep looking up!

Ralph Lauren Safari aftershave balm

The brush has very soft tips, but it does well with creams. The scents of the cream and the balm are quite similar, and they complement each other. I usually do not like balms very much, but the Safari balm is more like a milk, not greasy at all.

Prep: P.A.A. Cube 2.0 w/ Dock

Razor: P.A.A. Ascension SELECT Twist
Blade: Gillette Minora Platinum

Soap: Spearhead Shaving Co. Seaforth! Black Watch
Brush: Van Der Hagen Pure Badger

Post 1: P.A.A. Alum No-Slip Grip System w/ Dry Dock System
Post 2: Dickinson's Enhanced Witch Hazel Deep Cleansing Astringent w/ Menthol & Eucalyptus
Aftershave: Spearhead Shaving Co. Seaforth! Black Watch

Today's shave was a good one. I got to try  Black Watch for the first time and my Ascension Select Twist for the second time.

This was my first experience with any Spearhead Shaving Company soap. Being that this particular soap's base (Highland) is different from the rest of their offerings, I can't do any sort of comparison. But that's okay in my book.

Right off the bat I noticed the striking and unique scent it has. It's said to have bergamot, jasmine, plum, leather, oakmoss, incense and sandalwood. It's really quite nice if you ask me and right up my alley in terms of the type of scent profile I like.

With my pure badger brush I picked up a nice yogurt like top in almost no time at all. It didn't even take a minute if I recall. This may be due to the Highland base being somewhat softer than their other soaps. With it being a little softer it's easy to apply a thick coat, which I tend to like for the first initial pass of the razor. I then like to add just a touch more water to thin things out with subsequent passes.

The Ascension Select Twist is a razor I'm still getting used to as there's no clear way to quickly and easily get it dialed in to a position you may have found comfortable with a previous shave. There're no numbers to turn to or to use as a reference for aggressiveness. It's all based on feel. That's cool with me. Don't get me wrong. I have no problems with it. It just take a couple/few short stokes and adjustments to get to where you want it to be.

With this awesome soap and quite unique razor, I went for a bbs shave. I did three passes with some against the grain touching up and surprisingly had no weepers to complain of. Just a beautiful, smooth face.

Happy hump day everyone. Enjoy your shaves!
