SOTD FRIDAY MORNING, NOVEMBER 20, 2020

This morning I decided to shave with my 1976 Gold Bicentennial Edition Schick Krona. I shaved with a regular Krona for over 50 yrs until it broke. They are excellent shavers, and this particular safety razor did the job. Coupled with my C-Mon Special, new Sapele/Resin handled Pro48 boar, and MWF the shave was spectacular. Alum check revealed no heat. I feel cool, velveteen smooth, clean, refreshed and ready for the day.

RAZOR: C-Mon Special 11/16 (Mug), 1976 Gold Bicentennial Edition Schick Krona (Dome)
BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: Sapele/Resin Handled Pro48 Boar
SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH and Osage Rub.

Splendid shave!  I tried to get as many variables as right as possible.  Previously used a mild razor two days in a row to let my face settle down.  Retired the Wizamet after five, and chose a brand new med prep.  Selected a smooth but efficient razor.  Spent a lot of time with the lather, pre- mixing it a little wet, and then face lathering until it was smooth and thick, and a “just right” consistency.  Took my time with every pass, and didn’t try to force anything.  Then finished with the Success, which beautifully complemented the scent of the soap.  Great stuff!  Shaves like this morning’s make the whole hobby worthwhile.

Happy Shaves to All!

Love that brush and how the rings set it off.
