Since my right arm is in a huge, heavy immobilizing splint, shaving hasn't been particularly enjoyable. Just loading the brush is a chore. Typing with one hand is slow and annoying as well.  Declaration Grooming's new Icarus trilogy was a good option, however.  This base pretty much meets my expectations for the perfect soap.  Despite some hand cramps due to awkward angles, the shaves themselves have been drama-free.

Most of this sounds rather familiar. For me, it’s been my non-dominant hand that’s been packed away for a month now. The effect has still been significant, especially in the beginning. Definitely one of those situations in which “you don’t know how well you have it until it’s gone”. I know you weren’t looking for sympathy, but I extend my deepest sympathies to you and all those to whom everyday tasks present a real struggle. I hope each new day brings some healing and progress!

Thanks also for sharing your experience and impressions of Declaration Grooming’s latest. From what I just heard from a friend today, it’s not just their latest, but probably also greatest, so far. As a massive fan of the previous base, I feel as if such assessments leave me little choice…

This is similar to what I have except it extends beyond the elbow and involves the biceps. The intent is to keep my arm bent at 90 degrees and to prevent supination (rotating the arm in order to make your palm face up). Supination is the action to which the biceps really adds power {turning a door knob, using a screwdriver).

I'm not overstating this when I say Icarus i the best performing base I've ever used.
