Am a big fan of ADP and this silver cap ADP has always intrigued me. Is there any remarkable difference in the original silver cap vs brown colored cap. Thanks.

I used the brown cap AdP only briefly in the past, but my experience has been that the gold cap one shown in my image produces significantly richer, thicker lather with a better scent.

Pre ..... CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser Bar
Brush ... Omega Boar (20102)
Soap .... Grooming Dept English Lavender (Kairos)
Razor ... Shake Sharp Gold V2, Gillette Nacet w & w/out 1 shim
Post .... None required
Finish .. Dior Sauvage for Men EDT

Two maiden voyages today:

  1. Shake Sharp Gold V2.  This is my second Gold V2, which I unexpectedly won with a rather low-ball bid.  On this copy, the blade reveal is not quite parallel with the cap.  I couldn't figure a way to fix the reveal, so I went ahead and shaved with it as is.  During the shave, I tried removing the shim and eventually ditched the shim and replaced the blade, but none of these configurations fixed the reveal.  Nevertheless, when the smoke cleared, I was surprised to find the razor had delivered an excellent shave, although with notably more work and less fun than my first Gold V2.  Hopefully things will improve somehow, but if not, the sun will still rise in the east.
  2. Grooming Dept English Lavender.  The scent was lighter today off my boar brush than the medium/heavy scent off the puck.  Even so, there was still a clean, abiding barbershop vibe to this lavender which I find both pleasant and very refreshing.  This is my second shave with Mohammad's latest release of Kairos soaps.  (The first was with Tobacco Oud.)  There's not much you can rave about with today's best artisans that has not been raved about already.  IMO the artisans have different track records regarding scent, but the top tier artisans all put big, bold checks in all the performance boxes.  After only two shaves off the latest release, all I will say is that these two soaps are checking the boxes with the best of them.  And actually, given that I was playing a bit of razor-roulette today, I was very glad to have an as-good-as-it-gets soap on my brush.
