January 12, 2021 SOTN
Prep: Cold water
Brush: Barrister and Mann Synthetic
Razor: Yates with M plate
Blade: Wizamet (4)
Lather: Castle Forbes Lime
Lather Bowl: Pereira Unbreakable
Post Shave: Gentle Man’s Nod Zaharoff Splash
Post Shave: Fine American Blend Balm
Notes:
The main character of the show today was Castle Forbes Lime. I bought a sample from Maggard. The scent - which was a straight lime - is outstanding. I love it. Unfortunately the performance is not the best for me. I find it quite drying. Sorry Mantic.
I felt I needed a splash that worked well so chose GN. Zaharoff. This GN Splash is amazing and is very protective.
Continuing my journey of mismatched scents I used the American Blend balm. Scent is great. Performance is ok.
This Yates is good. My friend AQU told me it is like a Rockwell plate 7 and that is an apt analogy. I do find myself preferring more blade forward razors, however.

Gillette 50+ or Older Focus Week
Thursday January 14, 2021
Razor: 1914 Gillette Single Ring
Blade: Gillette Spoiler (3)
Brush: Graydog Quilt
Soap: Lakewood SOCP (1508.5 Project)
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Skin Bracer
Fragrance: Penhaligon's Lothair
Back to the 1508.5 Project. Man it seems so often.........................like every other day we do this Holding to tub to the light I see a faint donut hole beginning. Yay !! Today we took it up a notch to over 100 years with a 1914 Dated Single Ring. These were my nemisis' that I tamed and now get amazingly close shaves in comfort now. Although I like shiny things especially my razors, I love the age and patina on this razor and leave it that way. Chilly start to the work day but heading to the low 50's today and I'll take it. Powdery goodness of the Skin Bracer mixed with the Peppery goodness of the Lothair and we're ready for the day.......................after some more coffee !!! Have a tremendous day Everyone !
