1st run with Southern Witchcrafts shaving soap.

Josh Nute was gracious enough to provide me with a sample of SW Pomona. I normally stay clear of Vegan soaps, always preferring the performance of a good tallow instead. Even the most reputable of soap makers leave me with a "Meh" feeling after using their Vegan base. That did not happen with Southern Witchcrafts! Scent wise upon opening I was greeted with a nice, fresh apple scent. Immediately thought if you like apple then you'll like this! Scent notes: Apple, honey, red wine, spice, honeysuckle. Upon lathering I was enveloped in a wonderfully balanced fragrance of apple, sweetness, freshness, and spice with the spice perfectly toning down the others. It was a scent I know I've smelled before, I thoroughly enjoyed, and actually made me smile. I just continued to breath it in, loving each breath of it. I was bewitched! Lol

I scooped it out and spread a nice layer in the bottom of my 99 cent plastic Walmart salsa/lather bowl. Perfect lather bowl BTW! I loaded rather heavy which has been my needed experience with Vegan soaps but that was apparently a mistake on my part. I wound up with a very thick, luxurious, slick, protective lather that just kept going and going and was way more than needed for my 3 pass shave. I felt guilty with how much I felt I wasted. Post shave was the only part that didn't wow me. It wasn't bad by any means. It didn't dry my skin but didn't leave it with the hydrated feel I'm left with after a good tallow base. Again, not knocking it at all! So far its probably the best vegan base I've used!

I followed up with the only splash I had that might accent it in some way which was Nocturne by B&M. I love this scent as well but was disappointed that I didn't have the matching splash of the Pomona. This will definitely be one of the next sets on my list of Artisan must haves and I'm sure it will not be my last from them. Thanks again Josh for the chance to try them. Very much appreciated!
