***It has been explained to me that the marks on the inside of the baseplate hole are from the factory where the hold it in the anodizing process, and not wear.  I have edited the text to reflect that, but left the photo for the sake of honesty.

Those spots on baseplate are on all anodized versions. It's the spot they use to hold when anodizing is done.
